Redken Specialist
I was born in Southern California and lived there for 10 years and eventually moved to the small town of Yerington, Nevada. After I graduated high school, I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do with my life. I didn’t feel like I was ready for college, so I struggled finding a job for about a year. I became a live-in nanny for about a year and it was definitely a great experience. Shortly after I decided to attend beauty school and enrolled in the Paul Mitchell School in Reno.
Since middle school I have had an interest in the fashion industry; clothes, shoes, etc. It was not until a couple years ago that I took a real interest in cosmetology. Painting nails, doing make-up, and trying out new hairstyles and hair color is something that I have always enjoyed (I even tried cutting my own hair a couple times). During my time at school I found that I love cutting the most. It’s great being able to take hair and create a masterpiece from it.
After I graduated cosmetology school and received my license, I applied for the Associate Program and was accepted at TRU Hair Studio. I began the program in September 2014. The Associate Program gave me an opportunity to basically get a masters education working under Rachel Haggerty, who is a Redken Certified Colorist and Design Artist. The associate program taught me so much more than just cutting & coloring hair, through the Salon Company Level System, it also taught me how to learn, earn, and live better, all while enjoying a successful career.
I am a perfectionist when it comes to a lot of things, especially hair. As my career progresses, I hope to perfect all different kinds of haircuts, as well as different coloring techniques.
Being creative is something that I enjoy. It is one way that a person can express one’s individuality. And helping others express their individuality is something that brings me joy and I find it very rewarding. I am happy to have chosen a career that is always changing and evolving. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to learn new things.
My future goal is to one day be able to work on TV shows or movie sets in Hollywood doing hair and makeup, and maybe even magazine photo shoots. It will take a lot of time, effort and talent to achieve those dreams, but I am committed and determined to make it happen!
